DImensions: 40 x 33 x 22 cm - Country of Origin: Japan - Material: plastic & metal

Wall-mounted coin payphone of grey-brown colour with a transparent plastic rotary dial. On the top right was a slot for the insertion of coins. In the middle were usage instructions in Greek and English. On the bottom right a metal coin return chute and on the bottom left a coin collection drawer. On the left side, a metal hook supported the beige plastic handset which was connected to the device with a red spiral cord.

The Tamura coin payphone was a Japanese-made device dated from 1968. It was used in Greece from the late 1960s until the late 1990s, originally with the one drachma coin. It was considerably similar to Tamura's red "tall" version, which did not become available in Greece.

Apart from the colour and modification to the shape, the main difference was the position of the handset, since in the Greek case, a metal hook was used on the right side of the device. Based on this given fact and since the specific coin payphone was produced in Greece from the same manufacturer, it explains the subsequent addition of the red cord.
